Rates

Some IT service companies and freelancers list their service rates, whether highly detailed or just generally. Whereas, others keep their rates a closely guarded secret for various reasons, which may include the good and/or bad. While I don't go out of my way to hide my rates and they generally are market competitive, I do not publish a rate schedule for the following reasons:

  1. I don't provide typical big-box-store tech support or large consultancy firm services. In other words, I don't charge $100/hr for some specific service and send out a pretend-a-tech that gets paid $15/hour.
  2. I provide custom-tailored personal service based on the unique needs of each particular client
  3. I am willing to make arrangements to accomodate individual client budgetary restraints
  4. While my primary services are focused on things like business technology analysis and 'big-picture' consulting, I also may participate in the various functions required to provide a technology solution where my level of expertise may be more variable and I will bill accordingly
  5. Billing options can be any variation of flat-rate, hourly, monthly, per project, per scope of work, or custom support contract

Just to give a ballpark idea, my general hourly rate is $80/hour(+/-) and typically up to 25% less than a firm or agency for any particular equivalent service.

"...Our experience of software developers prior to meeting Tom was less than inspiring, however Tom helped to get the project back on track and worked within our budgets and always delivered on time..."
